The Story of Tomb Imogiri


In the Islamic Mataram Kingdom, there was king named Sultan Agung Hanyokrokusumo or better known by the name of Sultan Agung Agung.Sultan have high magic power. That said, he was magically able to Mekkah for Friday Prayers at sana.Suatu time, while walking along a scholar, Sultan Agung arrive at a place where the land smells fragrant. He was very interested in that place. Thus, there arose a desire to be buried in that place if it died later. The intention was then he told his friend. However, it forbade the clergy. and a scholar who takes a handful of earth was fragrant and
given to the sultan. sultan received and after returning from Mekkah he melemparakan land to the south falls precisely on the hill gerilyo Bantul area. after which the sultan ordered his courtiers to make a tomb in the area for himself if he died later. the great sultan died on 6 April 1964 and he was buried in that place which later became the mother's grave and called Kasultanangungan. After that, it later became the burial tomb of the emperor's family and Mataram Kings thereafter. After the Treaty Giyanti 1755, it became a tomb Imogiri tomb complex which covers 10 acres. In this complex most of the kings of Mataram Islam to reign Kasunanan Surakarta Sultanate and the Sultanate Ngayogyakarta buried. This tomb complex was divided into two parts, namely the west is used as the tomb of Kings Kasunanan Surakarta Sultanate, while the eastern part sebelar used for tombs of Kings Ngayogyakarta Sultanate.
